Fridails: Inspired By Pattern

This week we had a break from the tricky themes, as it was time for Inspired by Pattern prompt. 

I chose houndstooth and holo. Ever since I got Color Club Halo Hues collection, I can't stop with the holo stamping! 

На этой неделе мы немного отдохнули от сложных тем, потому что настало время вдохновиться узорами. 

Я выбрала сочетание гусиной лапки и лака-голографика. С тех пор, как я получила коллекцию Color Club Halo Hues, я просто не могу прекратить делать с ними стемпинг!

Christmas decorations skittles nail art

Last week I signed up for the Nail Polish Canada Holiday nail art challenge. Unfortunately, I missed the first week of the contest, however, there are still two left!

На прошлой неделе я зарегистрировалась в конкурсе магазина Nail Polish Canada, посвященный наступающим Рождеству и Новому Году. К сожеланию, первую неделю я пропустила, но ведь осталось еще 2!

This week's theme is Decorations, which quite a room for imagination. First I painted 2 coats of Kiko 255 on all nails, which represented the beauty of night sky in my mind, then went for a skitlette of tinsel on my sad broken pointer (Bundle Monster BM-222 stamping plate and Kiko 628), a fir-tree on the middle finger (freehanded with Kiko 626) decorated with hand-placed glitter from Dollish Polish Little Miss Know It All, a gingerbread man on the ring finger (also Bundle Monster BM-222 stamping plate and Kiko 628), some hoarfrost on my pinky (Dance Legend Steel Panther applied on the tip using a cosmetic sponge). On my thumb I simply applied a layer of Dollish Polish Little Miss Know It All.

Заданием на эту неделю было сделать маникюр на тему праздничных декораций и украшений, что дало хороший простор воображению. Для конкурсного маникюра я нанесла 2 слоя Kiko 255, который, по задумке, передает красоту ночного неба, а дальше каждому ногтю полагался свой дизайн. На указательном - стемпинг при помощи диска Bundle Monster BM-222 и золотого хрома Kiko 628, напоминающий мне о дождике, на среднем я от руки нарисовала абстрактную елочку хвойно-зеленым хромом Kiko 626, которую украсила глиттером, выловленным из Dollish Polish Little Miss Know It All, на безымянном тоже стемпинг - имбирный пряник-человечек при помощи все тех же Bundle Monster BM-222 stamping plate and Kiko 628. Мизинец мой припорошил иней из Dance Legend Steel Panther, нанесенного на кончик ногтя спонжем для макияжа, ну а большой палец я просто покрыла слоем Dollish Polish Little Miss Know It All.

I really like the festive look of these, despite the fact that I'm not usually the one for holiday nail art (I lost my Christmas/New Year spirit a couple of years ago and it still hasn't made a reappearance). It was quite easy and fun to do, although the gingerman cost me a struggle - the polish dried reeeeally fast on the stamping plate, so I had to move around like a lighting :D

Получилось очень нарядно и празднично, и, неожиданно, мне понравилось больше, чем я ожидала, ведь я не большой фанат новогодне-праздничного нейл-арта (новогоднее настроение я потеряла где-то пару лет назад, и пока оно не возвращалось). Делать все было довольно просто и весело, хотя пряничный человечек стоил мне определенных усилий - лак о-очень быстро высыхал на диске, так что действовать приходилось со скоростью молнии :D

Dance Legend Steel Panther swatches & review

Dance Legend came out with a new collection Wow Prism not so long ago. All of the polishes are scattered holos, the particles reminiscent of those Zoya use in Aurora, Blaze etc. generally in a colored jelly base.

Компания Dance Legend не так давно выпустила на рынок новую коллекцию голографиков Wow Prism. Голография в этих лаках рассеянная, частички напоминают те, что используют Zoya в таких лаках, как Aurora, Blaze и других. В основной массе частицы замешаны в цветной желейной базе.

Dance Legend Steel Panther, however, is holo bits in a clear base, which makes it possible to use the polish as a topper. In order to be built up to full opacity it requires three coats, and I would recommend holding the brush as parallel to the nail as possible while applying lacquer, otherwise it may drag the previous coat of holo bits with it, resulting in a patchy surface. The holo effect was very strong without top coat, however, since I had a nail art coming, I topped Steel Panther off with Seche Vite, which, of course, dried everything in a snap, but also somewhat ate the holo. Still it was very prominent under electric light, and my eyes actually hurt for a moment when I started editing the pics, so you can imagine just how stunning it is in real life! Removal was effortless and left no holo bits behind.

Для непрозрачности при носке соло ему требуется 3 слоя, и я рекомендую при нанесении держать кисточку как можно более параллельно по отношению к ногтю, иначе она может стягивать за собой предыдущий слой голографии, что приведет к плешам. Без топа голография была очень яркой, но поскольку впереди у меня был запланирован дизайн, то я покрыла все слоем сушки Seche Vite, которая ожидаемо все зацементировала, но и немного притушила эффект. И тем не менее частицы сияют ярко, когда я начала обрабатывать фотографии, у меня даже немного заболели глаза, так что можете представить, какое сносящее крышу сияние вас ждет в жизни :) Снимается лак беспроблемно, не оставляя на поверхности или коже вокруг ногтей частичек.

Fridails: Polka Dot

It's Fridails time again! And today we're doing polka dot, with an additional requirement that there is a combination of glossy and matte finish. Luckily for me, sands and suedes were considered matte too, so I had more room for imagination. 

И снова время Fridails! Сегодня наша тема - узор в горошек, и точечки вообще, а дополнительным условием было сочетание матового и блестящего финиша. К счастью для меня, пески и замшу мы тоже считали за матовые лаки, так что простора для воображения было больше.

Now I have have been a bit carried away by my creativity as well as willingness to recreate a nail art I saw on Instagram the other day, and I completely forgot that polka dot is actually a pattern consisting of dots, so technically my nails aren't exactly polka dot, but I was forgiven. Anyway, I used 3 coats of Dance Legend Steel Panther, a bright scattered silver holo (review coming soon), as my base color, topped it with a coat of Seche Vite and dotted on top of everything with Zoya London, Nyx and Godiva. Pretty simple, but I love the outcome! I'd better double check on the theme next time, though, 'cause I feel awkward for 'violating' it this time :D 

Так уж получилось, что меня слегка "понесло" в плане креатива, а из головы никак не шел маникюр, который я недавно подглядела в Инстаграме, и я совершенно забыла, что технически polka dot - это классический узор в горошек, а не просто какой-то узор из точечек, так что вообще-то мой маникюр немножечко не соответствует теме, но меня простили :) В дизайне я использовала 3 слоя Dance Legend Steel Panther, яркого серебряного рассеянного голографика, в качеств базового цвета, покрыла его слоем сушки Seche Vite, а поверх доттером нанесла узор из лаков Zoya London, Nyx и Godiva. Довольно просто, но результат меня радует. Хотя в следующий раз я два раза перепроверю тему, потому что мне немного неловко перед девочками за мое , пусть и непреднамеренное, небольшое нарушение правил :D

Shimmer Polish Irene swatches & review | AIS: I'm in the mood for...

Today I have another Shimmer Polish beauty to show to you. It's Shimmer Polish Irene, and at first (read: in the bottle) it looked to me as dense champagne silver shimmer with occasional bits of red and aqua blue...until I saw the macro shot, and after that I actually gave up trying to describe all the 'supplementary' colors. The overall color is still champagne silver, however, depending on the lighting it may appear as more of gunmetal, milky brown/beige and even olive. Since I currently have warm light lightbulbs in my lightbox's light setting (did I just nail the use of 'light' word here or what? Feel free to use this sentence if you have troubles pronouncing the letter 'l' correctly (I have issues with 's', by the way :D)), on the photos you see the brown/beige instance of the polish. It was a dream to apply and and provided even coverage at 2 coats, although I did 3 not only to make sure the surface would be picture perfect, but also simply out of pleasure of painting my nails, to be honest, that's how much I loved the formula. Another thing that gave Irene another plus in my books is the finish. It's not entirely smooth, but a bit textured, think a sand polish with exceptionally fine glitter. Like Zoya PixieDust, but even finer. Just enough to provide the feel of the texture, but not gritty or clutching at clothes. I would actually have worn the polish just like the way it way if I hadn't had big plans for it, so I captured it without top coat. I did apply it afterwards so that it hardened completely faster, and 1 coat was all Irene required to become smooth as glass. 

Сегодня я покажу еще один прекрасный Shimmer Polish. Shimmer Polish Irene сначала показался мне плотным шиммером цвета шампанского с серебряным отливом, в котором мелькают красные и синие искры...пока я не увидела макро-фото лака, после чего я оставила идею описать "дополнительные" цвета. Да и базовый цвет не так-то прост - под разным освещением он может приобретать более холодный отлив, либо, напротив, становиться молочно-коричневым или бежевым, а иногда вообще казаться несколько оливковым. Поскольку свет в моем лайтбоксе теплый, на фото мы наблюдаем как раз коричневато-бежевую ипостась. Наносится лак безупречно, он не жидкий, не текучий, ложится, куда его направишь - я очень люблю такую формулу. В 2 слоя свободный край уже не просвечивал, но чисто для того, чтобы на фото лак точно выглядел так же, как и в жизни, я нанесла третий слой (а также, честно говоря, просто из удовольствия от процесса, настолько кайфовые для меня у лака технические характеристики). Еще одним приятным моментом в лаке для меня стал его финиш. Это, можно сказать, нежнейший песок, помол шиммера ровно насколько мелкий, что придает покрытию текстурность, но частички не цепляются за одежду и безумно приятны на ощупь. Если бы не мои планы на этот лак, я бы именно в таком виде, не покрывая топом, его и носила, так что на фото Irene без него. Однако после свотчей я топ нанесла, чтобы поверхность побыстрее окончательно застыла, и таким образом выяснила, что для гладкости топа нужен всего 1 слой. 

And my big plans for the polish were using it in nail art. I've seen a lot of picturs of great stamping nail art using a full coverage shimmer/glitter as a base color, and I really wanted to do one, too. Conveniently, the theme for this Sunday Stamping at Adventures in Stamping was 'I'm in the mood for..', which is literally a wild card. So I just pulled out my plates and started going through them, putting aside those I liked for further consideration. I ended up with a geometrical pattern from Bundle Monster BM-315 stamping plate (the stamping polish is Essie Bobbing for Baubles), a coat of matte top coat (by Orly) and absolutely fabulous nails I couldn't stop staring at. For some reason I keep thinking of mermaids when I see them, guess they remind me of scales and fishnet at the same time. Follow the cut to see photos of stamping - it's just I ended up with so many pictures of Irene on its own and the finished nails I decided not to stretch the page even further, and the text part of this post alone is getting long :D

Ну а дальше лак ждал нейл-арт. Я видела много фотографий прекрасного стемпинга, где в качестве базы использовался шиммер или глиттер, и мне очень хотелось приобщиться к прекрасному. К моему удобству, темой этого воскресенья в группе Adventures In Stamping было "I'm in the mood for"/ "Я в настроении...", то есть это как счастливый билет на экзамене, когда можно отвечать любой вопрос по выбору, - твори, что хочешь :) Я вытащила все свои диски и пластины и начала методично их просматривая, откладывая в сторону те, что привлекли внимание. В итоге я использовала геометрический узор с диска Bundle Monster BM-315, лаком для стемпинга выступил Essie Bobbing For Baubles. Получившееся я покрыла слоем матового топа Orly. Здесь момент "пока сам себя не похвалишь...", конечно, но я считаю, что маникюр получился замечательный. Почему-то, смотря на него, все время думаю о русалках и неводах, такие вот романтичные ассоциации :) Фото стемпинга находятся под катом, потому что картинок получилось огромное количество, урезала-урезала, но все равно.  

Sunday Stamping: Inspired by water

The theme for this week's Sunday Stamping in the Adventures in Stamping group on Facebook is Inspired by water, so I started off with 2 coats of a beautiful untried of mine, Picture Polish Ocean. I took photos of it on its own, too, so hopefully I'll put up a review of it. When it dried, Then I stamped using Kiko 625 (light blue chrome) and 616 (silver chrome) and Cheeky CH38 (for the dolphin pattern) and CH49 (for the ship pattern) stamping plates. I finished the manicure with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat, applying it in 3 really light strokes so as not to smudge the stamping.

Я сделала свотчи его и без узоров, надеюсь, меня хватит на отдельный пост-обзор про него. Когда Океан высох, я перенесла узоры, используя Kiko 625 (голубой хром) и 616 (серебрянный хром), а также диски для стемпинга Cheeky CH38 (для узора с дельфинами) и CH49 (с кораблями). Маникюр я закончила слоем сушки Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, нанося ее в 3 движения, стараясь не касаться ворсинками кисти ногтя, чтобы ненароком не смазать дизайн. 

Shimmer Polish Lucie

And yet another Shimmer to show to you today. Shimmer Lucie is a clear base packed with red squares and hexes, silver holo squares of 2 sizes and hexes plus silver holo shimmer. One coat is more than enough for a great glitter payoff, and I bet this polish can be completely opaque if you did 2. One coat of topcoat was all I needed to smooth the surface, and the polish was already dry by then. I used 2 coats of Misa Someone Like You as undie for this manicure.
И еще один Shimmer я покажу вам сегодня. Shimmer Lucie состоит из красных квадратиков и шестиугольников, серебряных голографических квадратиков двух размеров, шестиугольников и шиммера в прозрачной базе. Глиттера очень много, одного слоя в качестве декоративного топа абсолютно достаточно, готова поспорить, если сделать второй, то покрытие станет непрозрачным. Слой топа полностью выравнивает поверхность, причем ко времени его нанесения лак уже высыхает. В качестве подложки я использовала 2 слоя Misa Someone Like You.

Zoya Creamy & Shimmer Polish Kim

This post forth, I'm going to include a small list of all products I've used and number of coats, so if yo look for a quick survey, it may come in handy.

Начиная с этого поста, в конце каждого я буду приводить маленькую таблицу с указанием всех использованных продуктов и числом слоев, так что если вам понадобится краткое содержание, она может пригодиться. 

Today I bring you another Shimmer Polish I've received, Shimmer Polish Kim. Kim is a dense mix of larger medium blue and silver holo hex, smaller medium blue, bright violet and silver holo hex glitter, as well as blue and silver holo shimmer in a clear base. The dominant color of the surface is blue, though, so I'm guessing the proportion of the blue glitter is larger. This one went on smoothly and effortlessly, photos show 1 coat of Kim in my ring and middle finger and glitter gradient using Kim on the rest ones.   I haven't tried a Shimmer that was a topcoat eater, so I only needed one coat of Seche Vite to make the surface entirely smooth. 

Сегодня я покажу еще один Shimmer Polish, присланный мне на обзор, Shimmer Polish Kim. Kim - достаточно плотный глиттер в прозрачной базе. Я вижу более крупный шестиугольный 2 цветов, синего и серебряного голографического, более мелкий 3 цветов - тех же самых плюс фиолетового - и синий и серебряный голографический шиммер. Доминирующий цвет покрытия, на мой взгляд, все же синий, так что думается мне, что общая пропорция синего глиттера выше. Лак очень прост в нанесении, на безымянном и среднем пальцах по 1 слою Kim на подложку, на остальных я сделала глиттерную растяжку. Топ не кушает, так что мне хватило 1 слоя Seche Vite, чтобы полностью сгладить поверхность.

I wanted to show this one against a contrasting undie, so I chose Zoya Creamy, a beautiful bright yellow that, sadly, needs 3 coats to appear even on nails. And it stained my nails and cuticles, even though I never skip and I'm quite generous with my base coat :c

Этот лак я хотела показать на контрастной подложке и в качестве таковой выбрала Zoya Creamy, красивый яркий желтый, но ему, к сожалению, требуется 3 слоя для равномерности цвета. А еще он мне ногти и кутикулу окрасил, даже через базу, которую я никогда не пропускаю, и на которую не скуплюсь :с 

I just realised I'd forgotten to take a macro shot, so no eyeporn this time, guys, sorry :D

Monday Blues: Silver Unicorn

This week's installment of Monday Blues features China Glaze First Mate, a classic navy blue creme that was among the first polishes I ordered when I started my nail polish collection, and I only got around to wear it now, what a shame! Formula was fine overall. It's quite fast-drying, which means you don't have much time to perfect your cuticle line without letting patches appear. They're easily masked away with the second coat, though. It's also a bit thin (which doesn't mean unpigmented), so you risk flooding your cuticles if you, like me, choose to leave as few space between your polish surface and your cutes, and you are sometimes prone to making careless moves. Nothing that a drop of remover and a brush cannot fix. The result is, though, smooth and glossy surface, so those of you ladies, who prefer their mani without top coat, are going to love it. I, on the other hand, can't live without my fast dry top coats, plus I had some nail art ahead of me, so I added a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri fast dry top coat. Then I took Zoya Trixie and used it to stamp on various images from the Nailz Craze NC02 "Magical" Stamping Plate, waited for the prints to dry and finish everything off with another coat of the SH top coat.
Синий маникюр этой недели представлен лаком China Glaze First Mate, классическим темно-синим кремом, который был заказан одним из первых, когда я только начинала свои похождения лакоманьяка, то есть уже больше года назад, а добралась до него только сейчас! Консистенция довольно приятная в целом. Лак довольно быстро сохнет, то есть долго выводить полукруг у кутикулы не позволяет - чревато плешами, которые, впрочем, идеально маскируются вторым слоем лака. First Mate также имеет тенденцию слегка затекать под кутикулу, если вы, как я, стараетесь минимизировать расстояние между ней и покрытием. Но ничего криминального,с чем бы не справилась капля жидкости для снятия лака и кисточка. Зато результатом является ровное и очень блестящее покрытие, так что любительницы носить лаки без топа этот "чайник" оценят. Я без топа не живу, да и впереди был нейл-арт, так что сверху был нанесен слой топа-сушки Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. После этого я взяла Zoya Trixie и использовала ее в качестве лака для стемпинга изображений с диска Nailz Craze NC02 "Magical". Дождавшись полного высыхания нанесенных отпечатков, я закрепила маникюр еще одним слоем топа.

Zoya Trixie swatches & review

I've got another Zoya to show to you today. Here's Zoya Trixie, which is a classic silver foil, and this is one of the trickiest Zoyas, in terms of application, I've encountered so far. Dense enough to reach full opacity in 2 coats, you can even get away with a thicker one, which can actually come in handy, since, for some reason, this one dried much slower than I've come to expect from Zoya. Trixie is very sparkly in the sun, but becomes more mirror-like in the shadow, however, it is very prone to showing visible brush strokes (which you can see in the photos). This can be eliminated by sponging with the color on top of your nail surface, but my task is to show a polish as it is, so there you have it. Unfirtunately, even given I'm a fan of Zoya, Trixie felt like a let down. I believe that nearly every nail polish brand has a silver foil in its range of shades, thus the competition is high, but even a budget-friendly Gabrini, although it does require 3 coats for opacity, was more pleasant to work with to me.
Zoya Trixie - классическая серебряная фольга и одна из самых капризных, в плане нанесения, Зой, с которыми я сталкивалась. Достаточно плотна для достижения полной непрозрачности в 2 слоя, в принципе, можно обойтись и один пожирнее, что в данном случае не является лишним качеством, поскольку сохла Trixie дольше, чем я привыкла, имея дело с Zoya. Лак искрится на солнце и становится более зеркальноподобным в тени, однако полосит довольно сильно. Этого можно избежать, если поверх первого слоя нанести лак спонжем, но моя задача в том, чтобы показать, каков лак сам по себе, что я и сделала. К сожалению, Trixie, при моей, можно сказать, фанатской любви к Zoya, меня немного разочаровала. Серебряная фольга есть в ассортименте почти каждого бренда, конкуренция высокая, при том даже аналогичный бюджетный Gabrini, хоть и требует трех слоев, для меня в общении оказался приятней.

The Lazy 15! Feminine Nails

This is the second post for today, and it features feminine nails. I had a hard time with this theme, since painting nails itself is usually considered feminine, so, basically, it was an open theme. In the end, I went for soft colors and a simple pattern. I'm really enjoying stamping - fast, easy, and the result is gorgeous as long as your polish is opaque enough!

Вот и второй пост за сегодня, и тема его - женственные ногти. Немного странно, на самом деле, поскольку в принципе накрашенные ногти ассоциируются с женственностью. Получилась открытая тема, твори, что хочешь. В итоге я выбрала мягкие цвета и лаконичный узор. Мне очень нравится стемпинг - быстро, легко, а результат всегда замечательный, если вы используете достаточно пигментированный лак.

The base color for this manicure is A-england Guinevre, a dusty lavender creme completely opaque in 2 thin coats, although you can do a thicker one coat and you'll be well off with it. It dries quite fast and shines just fine on its own, but I still used a coat of INM OTD to make it dry even faster (I was impatient to stamp on it!) plus preserve the base color, in case i messed up the stamping. Then I stamped with Gabrini 322 (swatched here), a great silver foil, and finished the manicure with another coat of INM OTD.

Базой для этого маникюра послужила прекрасная A-england Guinevre. Это чудесный пыльный лавандовый крем, полностью непрозрачен в 2 тонкий слоя или один толстенький. Сохнет сам по себе быстро, имеет крутой глянец, но я все равно покрыла сверху слоем INM OTD, чтобы он высох еще быстрее (конадить быстрее хотелось! :)) и чтобы, если что, можно было стереть кривой конад и не повредить цвет (весьма предусмотрительно, надо сказать, 2 ногтя пришлось переделывать). Затем я стемпила Gabrini 322, это серебряная фольга, которую я уже показывала здесь (пост без перевода), и закрепила все еще одним слоем INM OTD. 

A close friend of mine's celebrating her birthday tonight, and I'm going to pair these nails with a black lace dress from Zara...I hope they'll mix together.

31 days challenge. Day 8: metallic nails

Hey everyone!

So i went straightforward with this day's theme. Plus, i needed to swatch this polish i got when i was in Malta. And here we are, silver nails with Gabrini 322.

Gabrini 322 is an average silver foil/metallic opaque in 2 coats. It lasted 3 days on me with minor chipping.
