The Lazy 15! Fairy tale

So I am writing this post instead of studying for tomorrow's test on philosophy...what a faithful blogger, what a lazy student! :D But seriously, when a professor discourages his students to express their ideas and views and insists on their point of view and beliefs as the only correct ones (yeah, in philosophy. The most precise science of them all), I somehow lose interest in the subject. Doesn't help much, because I have an exam on philosophy in January...Anyway, you're here for nails, and here they are for you! :) And here I can't help remembering a line from Pushkin's Eugene Onegin:

"No reason why a man of energy

Should disregard the subject of his nails"

Пишу я этот пост вместо того, чтобы готовиться к завтрашнему тесту по философии...хороший блоггер, ленивый студент. Но серьезно, когда профессор начинает настаивать на своей точке зрения и своих убеждениях как на единственно верных, а взгляды студентов и слушать не желает, лично я тут же теряю интерес к предмету. Не особо мне это поможет сдать экзамен в январе, ну да ладно, мы же тут ради ногтей собрались! :) В этот момент уже в какой раз вспомнились строки Пушкина: 

"Быть можно дельным человеком

И думать о красе ногтей"

Yesterday's theme was Fairy tale, and there was I, struggling once again with how to interpret the theme. I had absolutely no time for any complex nail art, so it was either stamping, or water marbling, or gradient nails. And then I saw the playing card symbols print on one of my LeLac stamping platesand it dawned on me: Alice In Wonderland! Let alone that she has a blue dress, and like I should be given a serious reason to wear blue nail polish :D It's not like Alice.. is my all-time most favorite fairy tale, but I find it rather amusing and the perfect visual description of the word LSD :D.

Вчерашний день в The Lazy 15! был посвящен сказкам, что в очередной раз вызвало у меня сложности в интерпретировании темы. У меня совершенно не было времени на сложный нейл-арт, так что, по сути, передо мной стоял выбор между стемпингом, марблированием и градиентом. И тут я, просматривая свою коробку для нейл-арта, увидела замечательный принт с карточными мастями на одной из пластин для стемпинга. Меня осенило: Алиса в Стране Чудес! Уже не говоря о том, что в мультфильме у нее голубое платье, а мне как будто нужен предлог, чтобы лишний раз накрасить ногти голубым лаком :) Не то, чтобы Алиса.. была моей любимой сказкой, но я нахожу ее достаточно забавной и немного наркоманской. 

Please welcome a manicure inspired by Alice's outfit! I used Essie Coat Azure as my base color (it's a stunning one-coater with a smooth finish. I'd thought the shimmer in the polish would be more visible, instead it just gives the color more depth and complexity) and stamped on it with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On. As you can see, the polish was not thick enough for stamping, thus it looks quite washed out, the lines are not perfectly crisp, and there are bald spots. In other circumstances I would have redone my nails, but this week has been so hectic I had to put up with it. The manicure was sealed with a coat of INM OTD, as per usual.

В качестве базового цвета я использовала Essie Coat Azure (потрясающий однослойник, кроющие способности не вызывают сомнений, сохнет быстро - сушку я клала исключительно для защиты цвета в случае, если накосячу по-серьезному. Я думала, что шиммер в лаке будет больше заметен на ногте, и пока лак еще не высох, он был различим, но после высыхания его стало почти невозможно разглядеть даже на очень близком расстоянии, даже при моем 100% зрении. Вместо этого шиммер добавляет глубины и сложности цвету, что, безусловно, радует, хотя ждала я все же немного другого финиша). Поверх я стемпила Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On. Как вы можете видеть, лак оказался недостаточно плотным для стемпинга. Узор выглядит вымытым, не вполне аккуратным, небольшие части просто не перенеслись на ноготь. В других условиях я бы однозначно переделала маникюр, но эта неделя выдалась очень напряженной, так что пришлось смириться. Маникюр я, как обычно, закрепила слоем INM OTD.

The Lazy 15! Bonfire

Yesterday's theme was Bonfire/Fireworks nails, and the funny thing is that i did my nails for this theme and took photos of them on Saturday, but couldn't post until today. Also, now my entire family knows what marshmallows are. 

Вчерашняя тема - фейерверки или костер. Смешно, я сделала маникюр для этой темы еще в субботу, сфотографировала тогда же, но до блога добралась только сейчас. А еще теперь вся моя семья знает про чудесные зефирки маршмеллоу. 

I love bonfires. Sitting by the fire with friends, eating freshly cooked meat, drinking wine and singing songs to the guitar. Bonfires are also made for heartfelt talks. I recall a bonfire last month, me and my friend both having hard times. We promised to each other that everything would be alright. For me, it only lasted for a month and a half, but he seems to be doing much better these days, and I hope it stays the same. So, in a way, this manicure is to him. There is one thing I know for sure: i drew a real bonfire, not an abstract one. 

Я очень люблю костры. Сидеть у огня с друзьями, есть только что приготовленное мясо, пить вино и петь песни под гитару. А еще костры просто созданы для душевных разговоров. Я помню один, в прошлом месяце, когда так получилось, что и я, и мой хороший друг переживали не лучшие периоды наших жизней. Мы тогда пообещали друг другу, что все будет хорошо. У меня это продлилось всего полтора месяца, не так долго, как хотелось бы, но зато у моего друга дела, кажется, пошли на лад, и я надеюсь, что так и продолжится. Так что в своем роде этот маникюр посвящается еще и ему. То, что рисовала я не абстрактный костер, а действительно существовавший, это точно.  

As for the nails themselves, I started with 2 coats of Color Club With Abandon, a gorgeous bronze shimmer in dark chocolate brown base. The polish is very opaque, and if you do a thicker coat, it can easily pass as 1-coater. It also dries very glossy, I didn't notice much difference between it under a coat of INM OTD and without it. Then i took my nail art brushes and freehanded the bonfire, the stick with a marshmallow on it and the little guitar with a musical note. I'll edit the post soon to add the list of polishes used for the nail art, I have it written down, but I can't access it at the moment. The manicure was sealed with a coat of INM OTD. It lasted 4 days on me and didn't start to chip until today - not bad at all! 

Что касается самого маникюра, то я начала с 2 слоев Color Club With Abandon, очень красивого бронзового шиммера в темно-шоколадной базе. Лак достаточно плотный, если не делать очень тонкие слои, он может спокойно выступать в роли однослойника. Кроме того, обладает своим потрясающим глянцем, я почти не заметила разницы между ним без топа и со слоем INM OTD, которая, как известно, блестит, как чумачечая сумасшедшая. Затем, при помощи кисточек для нейл-арта, я от руки нарисовала костер, зефирку на палочку и гитару с музыкальной нотой. Пикассо из меня тот еще, но я старалась) Список лаков, использованных для арта, я добавлю в пост чуть позже, они у меня выписанные, но сейчас не могу взять эту бумажечку. Маникюр продержался на мне 4 дня в активном режиме жизни: активное стучание по клавиатуре, посуда, легкая уборка в квартире. Сколы появились только сегодня, что, я считаю, очень и очень неплохо!

The Lazy 15! Underwater creatures

Today's theme is Underwater Creatures or Water Mythical Creatures. I wasn't too original and chose mermaid as the creature I was going to draw inspiration from. 

Сегодня на моих ногтях твари морские :) А точнее, я опять проявила верх оригинальности и выбрала русалку как источник вдохновения.

I decided to emulate scales of mermaid's fishtail, and for that I used a recently purchased polish, namely China Glaze Deviantly Daring, and hex glequins I'd purchased at Born Pretty Store. They're pretty cheap, but the quality is great! Anyway, first I applied 2 coats of the China Glaze polish, then drew out the aqua, translucent white and 2 shades of green glequins and, having done a thickish coat of transparent nail polish so that it stayed tacky as I worked my way through the surface of my nails, started applying glitters with a toothpick, one at a time, until I had the whole 2 accent nails covered with them. I sealed it up with a coat of INM OTD - a mistake, if you're using a thin top coat, like the INM one, you'll need at least two! I'd thought I could get away with one, and about one third of glequins didn't make it through the day, so I had to reapply them in the evening. Also, make sure the transparent nail polish you choose is not fast-drying, otherwise you'll have to do several coats of it, and we don't really want extra layers of polish here if we can do less.

Я решила сымитировать чешую рыбьего хвоста русалки на ногтях. Для этого я использовала недавно приобретенный мною China Glaze Deviantly Daring и глиттер-шестиугольники четырех цветов из Born Pretty Store. По соотношению цена-качество это что-то невероятное! Особенно после драконовских московских цен даже в профессиональных магазинах..Итак, я нанесла 2 слоя China Glaze, после чего покрыла ногти слоем прозрачного лака, который послужил мне "клеем" для глиттера. Важно использовать не быстросохнущий прозрачный лак, иначе придется его наслаивать, а пироги нам в этом маникюре точно не нужны, так как впереди предстоит толстый слой топа, а то и не один. Глиттер я наносила зубочисткой, кончик которой тоже был в прозрачном лаке, вручную, одну за одной. Очень медитативное занятие, должна сказать :) После того, как оба акцентных ногтя были покрыты глиттером, я нанесла слой топа INM OTD - и допустила ошибку. Если вы, как я, используете такой неплотный топ, который высыхает в тонкую пленку, будьте готовы, что слоев будет 2, а то и 3! Я думала, что и с одним глиттер никуда не денется с ногтей, и оказалась неправа. При том, что гвозди я не заколачивала, а всего лишь отсидела 4 пары в университете и потом с подружкой в кино сходила, по возвращении домой обнаружила, что где-то треть блестяшек отсутствует. Пришлось замещать другими и снова покрывать конструкцию топом, на сей раз уже в 2 слоя. 

So, what do you think? Did I manage to emulate scales? This manicure is, for real, one of those that are better to be seen at a distance, but I think it looks quite nice up close, too! :) I've never expected myself to like such amount of glitter, but I guess general nail polish obsession and reading lots of great polish blog changes your perception of things!

Итак, что скажете? Получилось у меня имитация чешуи? Это, конечно, один из тех маникюров, которые лучше смотрятся издалека, и задумка тогда лучше угадывается, но мне кажется, что и вблизи он весьма хорош :) Честно говоря, никогда от себя не ожидала, что мне так понравится и будет так комфортно с подобным праздником на ногтях, но я весь день им любовалась и нисколько не устала! Вот насколько лакоманьячество и чтение красивых лакоблогов меняет восприятие вещей. 

PS only 5 nail arts left! This challenge is so fun, still I can't help thinking "soon I'll be able to wear plain nail polish again!" It's not that I'm not enjoying the challenge, it's quite on the contrary, but I've just got so many pretty untrieds, and I feel really guilty for neglecting them! :D

PS осталось всего 5 нейл артов! Очень интересный и развивающий флэшмоб, но я все равно не могу удержаться от мысли "скоро я опять смогу носить просто лак!". Не то чтобы мне не нравился челендж, напротив, но у меня столько лаков, которые я еще ни разу не надевала, и мне перед ними очень стыдно! :D

The Lazy 15! Disney

Today's theme is Disney, and, to be honest, I found it quite difficult. I had to draw inspiration from Disney characters, but make it unobvious, for I study at a serious university, and people judge you by your appearance. A lot wouldn't understand a straightforward Jasmine from Aladdin face on my ring finger :)
Наша тема сегодня - Дисней. Достаточно сложная для меня, потому что учусь я в серьезном заведении, диснеевской мордашки на моих ногтях большинство бы не поняло :)

My favorite Disney movies include: Hercules, Aladdin and Mulan. So I looked at my nail art stuff and finally stopped at a LeLac stamping plate, the one that has a hieroglyth pattern and thought "ok, let it be Mulan, then". I'm not sure if the hieroglyphs are Chinese or even make sense at all, though..Now it's just dawned on me that I could do freehand the Greek pattern on my nails and have Hercules-inspired ones instead, but it's too late now.
Мои любимые диснеевские мультики - Геркулес, Аладдин и Мулан. Мне надо было придумать что-то, что, с одной стороны, было вдохновлено одним из них, согласовывалось бы, а с другой, могло сойти за просто нейл арт для незнающих. Остановилась я на стемпинге узором в виде иероглифов (так и не пойму, египетские они или китайские, как мне сначала показалось, а может, это вообще просто символы). Так что получилась хорошо замаскированная Мулан. Пока писала этот пост, мне пришла в голову идея, что можно же было нарисовать на ногтях греческий узор, это был бы самый "честный" нейл-арт, и посвящен он был бы любимому из любимых, Геркулесу. Ну да поздняк метаться :)

I started with 2 coats of Color Club Red-ical Gypsy, followed by a coat of INM OTD to speed up the process, and stamped over with LeLac stampic plate and a plain black cream (Sophin Ceramic 02). When the manicure was dry, I sealed it up with another coat of INM OTD.
Я начала с двух слоев Color Club Red-ical Gypsy, затем нанесла слой INM OTD, чтобы все быстрее высохло, а затем по сухому лаку стемпила выбранным узором с помощью простого плотного черного крема Sophin Ceramic 02. Когда узор высох, я закрепила маникюр еще одним слоем INM OTD. 

The Lazy 15! Dessert

Posting late today *again*, sigh. I'm so sorry! I got home late today, even had to take photos in *drumroll* my bathroom, because, ironically, it has the best lighting!

Опять припозднилась с сегодняшним постом, прошу прощения! Поздно добралась домой, в итоге фотографировать пришлось в  - внимание! - ванной. Ну не виноватая я, что..нет, не полюбила женатого)) там просто освещение, как выяснилось, лучшее в квартире. 

At first I wanted to cheat and skip on nail art altogether, leaving my nails in a solid colour. So as they corresponded with the theme, I chose a name-appropriate nail polish, Nubar Chocolate Coffee Bean. This polish is a stunner! It has a rich, well-pigmented dark chocolate brown base infused with raspberry/purple shimmer. Makes me think of those cakes I think are simple chocolate ones, but they turn out to have a layer or raspberry-ish something, which spoils the dessert completely in my eyes. Can a girl just have a simple dark chocolake cake, please? Ok, rant off. The polish is very beautiful and is completely opaque in 2 coats, although I'm guessing you can get away with a more generous one coat. Dry time is quite usually fast with Nubar, and this polish is no exception, but I used a coat of INM OTD anyway, because I was tired and wanted my nails dry as soon as possible. Frankly, I think it made the shimmer shy, and next time I'm going to wear this polish sans top coat (something i never do, I'm too impatient to do something and always screw up semi-dried varnish!). The downside of the polish is that it is prone to cuticle drag, so I'd recommend waiting a couple of minutes between the coats, if that's not a habit of yours (my case - I never wait between coats!).

Сначала я хотела немного сжульничать и просто покрыть ногти лаком, не делая никакого нейл-арта. Я выбрала подходящий по названию и содержанию к теме - десерты - лак, Nubar Chocolate Coffee Bean. Замечательный лак, надо сказать! Это хорошо пигментированная база насыщенного цвета горького шоколада, в которой плавает малиново-фиолетовый шиммер. Полностью непрозрачен в 2 слоя, но думаю, если положить 1 пожирнее, то лак сойдет за однослойник. Напоминает мне о тортах, которые я всегда считаю просто шоколадными, а они потом оказываются с малиновой пропиткой или чем-то в этом роде, а я ее ненавижу :)) ну да лак от этого менее красивым не становится. Лаки Nubar обычно хорошо и быстро сохнут, но я все равно использовала сушку INM OTD, потому что шило в попе :) Честно говоря, шиммер от этого перестал так ярко играть на свету, мне кажется, немного прибился, поэтому в следующий раз попробую носить этот лак без топа - вообще жутко редкий случай для меня. Единственный недостаток, который я заметила - лак имеет склонность плешивить у кутикулы, когда при нанесении 2 слоя первый как бы стягивается. Так что советую подождать хотя бы пару минут между слоями, если это не входит в вашу процедуру маникюра (как у меня - обычно я никогда не жду между слоями, торопыга я, куда деваться). 

I wanted to leave it as it was, but my conscience decided to wake up, so I took a fine nail art brush, Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Green Tea, Nubar Moire and OPI You Don't Know Jacques and freehanded a cone of green tea ice cream on my ring finger - LOVE that! Now I desperately want some, and it's 1:30 AM in Moscow..damn it.

Я хотела оставить ногти такими, какими они были, но совесть взыграла, и я достала тонкую кисть для нейл-арта, Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Green Tea, Nubar Moire и OPI You Don't Know Jacques и нарисовала на ногте безымянного пальца рожок с мороженым зеленый чай - мое любимое! Ну вот, опять его захотелось, а в Москве просто так днем с огнем не сыщешь, приходится во всякие общепиты за ним ходить :( 

The Lazy 15! Feminine Nails

This is the second post for today, and it features feminine nails. I had a hard time with this theme, since painting nails itself is usually considered feminine, so, basically, it was an open theme. In the end, I went for soft colors and a simple pattern. I'm really enjoying stamping - fast, easy, and the result is gorgeous as long as your polish is opaque enough!

Вот и второй пост за сегодня, и тема его - женственные ногти. Немного странно, на самом деле, поскольку в принципе накрашенные ногти ассоциируются с женственностью. Получилась открытая тема, твори, что хочешь. В итоге я выбрала мягкие цвета и лаконичный узор. Мне очень нравится стемпинг - быстро, легко, а результат всегда замечательный, если вы используете достаточно пигментированный лак.

The base color for this manicure is A-england Guinevre, a dusty lavender creme completely opaque in 2 thin coats, although you can do a thicker one coat and you'll be well off with it. It dries quite fast and shines just fine on its own, but I still used a coat of INM OTD to make it dry even faster (I was impatient to stamp on it!) plus preserve the base color, in case i messed up the stamping. Then I stamped with Gabrini 322 (swatched here), a great silver foil, and finished the manicure with another coat of INM OTD.

Базой для этого маникюра послужила прекрасная A-england Guinevre. Это чудесный пыльный лавандовый крем, полностью непрозрачен в 2 тонкий слоя или один толстенький. Сохнет сам по себе быстро, имеет крутой глянец, но я все равно покрыла сверху слоем INM OTD, чтобы он высох еще быстрее (конадить быстрее хотелось! :)) и чтобы, если что, можно было стереть кривой конад и не повредить цвет (весьма предусмотрительно, надо сказать, 2 ногтя пришлось переделывать). Затем я стемпила Gabrini 322, это серебряная фольга, которую я уже показывала здесь (пост без перевода), и закрепила все еще одним слоем INM OTD. 

A close friend of mine's celebrating her birthday tonight, and I'm going to pair these nails with a black lace dress from Zara...I hope they'll mix together.

Сегодня моя близкая подруга празднует день рождения, надеюсь, что с тем черным кружевным платьем, которое я собираюсь одеть, этот маникюр сыграет.

The Lazy 15! Favorite color

Due to life circumstances, I was unable to post on Wednesday and Friday, although I did my nails in accordance with the themes. I don't like posting late, but never late than never :) Thus, expect two posts today :)

К сожалению, я не смогла написать вовремя в среду и пятницу, сама ненавижу постить задним числом, но лучше поздно, чем никогда. Так что ждите сегодня 2 поста :)

It's always hard for me to choose my most favorite color. I love teal, turquoise, blue, purple...but since I've recently got my hands on my very first Butter LONDON, I was impatient to try it on. Add one of the most recent colors by Zoya, a nice stamping pattern, and get this design.

Мне всегда сложно выбрать мой любимый цвет. Я обожаю всю сине-зеленую гамму, оттенки фиолетового. Но недавно я купила свой первый Butter LONDON, и мне очень хотелось его опробовать на себе. Осталось добавить один из последних лаков Zoya, узор для стемпинга - и маникюр готов :)

I had to take photos of my right hand, since I didn't like how my left hand came out. Welcome poor hand positioning.

Мне опять пришлось фотографировать правую руку, поскольку то, как вышла левая рука, меня недостаточно устраивало. Опять странная поза, но я надеюсь со временем научиться нормально позировать и правой рукой.

A manicure that fits current weather in Moscow. I call it 'Raindrops' - how very original!

Маникюр, соответствующий погоде в Москве в эти дни. Получил у меня самое оригинальное в мире название - "Капли дождя".

This nail art was also dedicated to the World Diabetes Day, which color is blue. This is a horrible disease cause by lack of insulin produced by the pancreas. Several members of my family suffer from it, so I know what it's like not by hearsay. Learn more about diabetes here.

Кроме того, этот маникюр был посвящен Дню Диабета, его цвет - синий. Это страшная болезнь, корень которой лежит в том, что организм производит недостаточно инсулина. The Lazy 15! Galaxy Nails

Today I'm doing Galaxy Nails. Geez, galaxies look easier to execute than they actually are! Or, maybe, that's because I had to file my nails down again, and I have NO length for them to blossom out. Anyway, I don't think they actually look like galaxies, more like unicorn puke :D Pretty, but not quite representing the theme.

Сегодня у нас по программе галактики. Честно говоря, я думала, что такого эффекта проще добиться, но у меня получилось просто что-то красиво блестящее)) Может, это связано с тем, что мне опять пришлось спилить ногти, так что длины нет вообще, и "галактикам" негде развернуться.

The Lazy 15! Water Marble

Всем привет!

Today's theme is water marbling, which I've never tried before. I knew I didn't want to do the flower design, which seems to be the most popular option. Instead, I googled pics of malachite and drew inspiration from them. 

Сегодня тема The Lazy 15! - мраморизация, или стилизация под мрамор. Один из самых популярных дизайнов этой техники нейл арта - "цветок", так что я сразу решила, что его делать не буду :D Зато я прогуглила фотографии малахита и вдохновилась ими.

I don't mean to be arrogant, but I simply adore this manicure, and I'm very glad the nest theme is only on Monday, which means I'm getting to enjoy my stone nails for a few days :3

Это, конечно, называется "пока сам себя не похвалишь - никто не похвалит", но я от маникюра в восторге. Радует, что следующая тема - только в понедельник, так что этот маникюр удастся поносить подольше :)

Only 2 photos, sorry, I didn't like the majority of those I took, and it was already dark outside when I got down to sorting out them. The first one is my left hand, and the second is my right one. Actually, I like how the right hand came out more, because when I figured out which motions I should do with my hands to achieve the desired look I'd already done the entire left hand :D I do think, though, that my nails resemble the inspiration stone. 

Сегодня всего 2 фотографии, потому что они единственные, которые меня устраивали по качеству, а когда я, наконец, отсортировала снимки, на улице уже стемнело, так что переснять маникюр не получилось. Первая фотография соответствует левой руке, вторая - правой. Дизайн на второй мне, честно говоря, нравится больше, поскольку пока я экспериментальным образом выяснила, какие движения надо совершать, чтобы получался тот эффект, которого я хотела, я сделала уже всю левую руку :D Но, по-моему, на камень получилось похоже :)

The Lazy 15! Dots

Today we're doing manicures involving dots! I've been wanting to do a manicure that would match my blog design for a while now, and my background happens to be dotty, so I didn't think long today :)

Тема сегодняшнего дня в Lazy 15! challenge - точки. Я, ко всему прочему, давно хотела сделать маникюр, который сочетался бы с дизайном моего блога, так что тут долго думать не пришлось :)

For this manicure I used:

-Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Himalayan Blue - 2 coats (2 слоя)

-Revlon Sunshine Sparkle - dotted each dots twice (проходилась по одной точке 2 раза) 

-a dotter доттер

I'm quite fond of this manicure, it's very girl-ish, and I like how the colors work together, but the blue doesn't quite match the actual blue of my backgroud. I should have picked something dustier and green-leaning.

В целом, я довольна маникюром, но если бы я его переделывала, то подобрала бы другой синий лак, поскольку этот не совсем точно отображает тот синий, что я использую на фоне. Лак должен быть более припыленным и иметь больше зелени в пигменте.
